1. Overview
QR Scanner (the “App”) is an Android utility published by DreamsApp. The App scans QR codes and barcodes, creates QR codes, processes images chosen by the user, and can store scan and creation history on the device. The App is supported by advertising from Google AdMob.
This policy explains the data handled by the App and its third-party software development kits (SDKs). You do not need to register an account to use the App.
2. Camera scanning and selected images
The App uses Google Code Scanner through Google Play services for camera scanning. That scanner supplies the detected code value to the App. QR Scanner itself does not request Android's camera permission in the current version.
If you choose an image from your device, the App uses Google ML Kit to look for a QR code or barcode in the selected image. This processing takes place on the device in the current implementation. DreamsApp does not upload selected images or scanned QR contents to a DreamsApp server. Google-provided SDKs may independently process technical or diagnostic data under Google's policies.
QR codes may contain links, contact information, Wi-Fi credentials, or other text. Only scan and share codes you trust.
3. Information kept on your device
QR Scanner can store scan and generated-code values, creation or scan timestamps, favourite status, and interface preferences (such as theme and QR style unlocks) in local app storage on your Android device. This information is used to show history, enable favourites and preserve your settings.
QR Scanner does not require an account and does not operate a cloud history-sync service. Local history remains until you delete entries, clear history inside the App, or remove the App and its locally stored data, subject to your device's operating-system behaviour.
4. Advertising and data collected by third parties
The App includes the Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK and may show banner, native, interstitial, app-open, rewarded and rewarded-interstitial advertisements.
To deliver and measure advertising, maintain security and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or share:
- your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
- app and advertising interactions, such as app launches, taps and video views;
- diagnostic and performance information, such as app start times, errors and performance indicators;
- device and account identifiers, including an Android advertising ID or app set ID, where available and permitted.
Advertising data is handled by Google and, where applicable, its advertising partners. We do not control third-party retention periods or all onward processing of this advertising data. Learn more from Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Mobile Ads data disclosure.
5. Why information is used
- Core functionality: to detect and display QR codes and barcodes, generate codes and keep local history.
- Preferences: to remember App settings and locally unlocked design features.
- Advertising: to fund free App features, show ads, measure effectiveness and help prevent advertising fraud.
- Technical reliability: to allow the SDK providers to diagnose issues and maintain their services.
6. Advertising consent and privacy choices
QR Scanner integrates Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or update advertising consent when applicable. Depending on your region and Google's requirements, a consent form may appear. The App provides an “Ad privacy choices” entry in Settings when the UMP SDK indicates that such an entry is required.
You can also manage advertising-related options through your Android device settings. Applicable privacy choices may affect how ads are selected; they do not necessarily remove all advertisements.
7. Sharing, saving and external apps
When you choose to share a scanned value or QR image, save an image, export history as CSV, or open a link, the information is provided to the app, destination or storage location you select. You control these actions. Third-party browsers, sharing destinations and file providers have their own privacy practices.
QR Scanner does not automatically send your QR history to DreamsApp or to advertising partners for advertising targeting.
8. Retention, deletion and security
History and settings stored locally are retained on your device until you remove them or uninstall the App. You may delete individual history entries or clear all history using the App's history controls. Exported files must be deleted from their chosen destination separately.
Data sent to Google's services is retained and protected in accordance with Google's own policies. The Google Mobile Ads SDK uses encrypted transport for the data it transmits. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any electronic system or device.

9. Children and families
QR Scanner is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically designed or marketed for children. If the App's intended audience changes, DreamsApp will review applicable Google Play Families, consent and advertising requirements and update this policy where necessary.
10. Updates to this policy
We may revise this policy when the App, advertising partners, legal requirements or data practices change. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the effective date.
